The southern of a pair of districts on the Big Isle, South Kohala generally refers to the peninsular northern reaches of the island of Hawaii near the city of Kapa'au. A beautiful marriage of land and sea, the district takes its name from Hawaii's oldest volcanic range, the Kohala mountains.
